Please join us on Saturday, May 12, 2012 for the
Junior League of Memphis
5K for Kids - Taking Steps to End Childhood Obesity
The Junior League of Memphis works year-round to help kids lead healthier lifestyles.
This race is our one day to draw attention to our work in this area,
so that we can focus on putting hands
and feet behind our mission the rest of the year. This mission is embodied by Kids in the Kitchen and other projects to make the kids in Memphis healthy and happy.
Last year's event drew over 650 participants and much needed
attention was brought to the plague of childhood obesity in our city.

Childhood obesity is on the rise in the United States, and children in the Memphis community are particularly at risk for falling into unhealthy patterns at an early age. Tennessee currently ranks third in the nation for childhood obesity, and the risk is also high for Mid-South children to develop type 2 Diabetes.
The Junior League of Memphis is taking steps to end childhood obesity through our 5K for Kids. Please join us in raising awareness about this epidemic and join us in the fight to ensure a healthy life for years to come.
