Childhood obesity is on the rise in the United States, and children in the Memphis community are particularly at risk for falling into unhealthy patterns at an early age. Tennessee currently ranks sixth in the nation for childhood obesity, and children across the Mid-South are at risk for developing Type 2 Diabetes as a result of this health problem.
The Junior League of Memphis’ 5K is taking steps to end childhood obesity through our community programs like Kids in the Kitchen and Church Health Center - Plan to Get Healthy which teach children and their families the importance of having an active and healthy lifestyle. Please join us in raising awareness about this epidemic and in the fight to ensure a healthy life for the kids in our community.
